Ending LT44

Before anything else, maybe first we need to clarify what it means "ending the game". Is it "officially" end, with regard to LT ranking, declare winners and distribute points, or it really means stopping the game and shutting down the server?

Regarding the first ("official"), there are three ways game can end.

(And, for the record, I don't think that Blue Team winning is one of them.)

1. Red Team is declared a winner, team victory by either of the protocols.

I believe this would be unfair for known reasons: Blue team was effectively backstabbed by their main player which was neither their fault nor something they could have prevented in any way. It would definitely be unfair to give them negative points for the scoring table because of what happened in only 30 days. However, it would be completely fair to give Zoltan negative points regardless of anything else; after all, he surrendered the game for everybody else, he should receive the penalty for everybody else, too.

2. Score victory is declared.

This is also unfair. Some players have definitely played for the team and not for themselves; they curbed their growth and skipped building cities in some locations in order to build something else for the war effort. Also, some gave hundreds of gold to others for emergencies which they could have used for themselves.

Generally, I think that "score victory" should never happen in team games.

3. The third option is to declare this game "null and void" with regards to the LT ranking due to the exceptional situation that happened. I believe this one would be fair. Simply, stuff has happened, nobody can say things were regular.

For the record, this solution doesn't exclude negative points for Zoltan.

So much about the LT ranking score.

Now, about ending the game physically, that is, shutting the server, I think that, as long as there is a number of people willing to play, it should stay on. There is still a lot to do, there are some people for whom this is the first LT game (and for some this is the second one which is just as good) so maybe not spoil it for them completely. Let's simply call it a training or a test game. Or, god forbid, let's just play for fun!

False.

The three players controlling half of the nations on our team have been talking about surrendering for at least two weeks before finally deciding. As team captain, I announced the surrender, and only when it was not graciously accepted, I suicided in game to force Red's hand.

Re: Ending LT44

I saw two players from Team Blue saying they had no idea about the surrender.

And "three players controlling half of the nations on our team" implies at least half of the team did not take part in those talks.

Not everybody on our team looked at discord.

If we were going to make an important decision, we wouldn't keep the discussion confined to Discord.

Re: Ending LT44

My $0.02 - I like the null and void option. We as a group need to develop some better team selection process and ensure that whomever is going to play commits to doing so in order for this same scenario to not play out. I think that for some differing reasons, Blue got a bad hand on the outset and the members who wanted to play ended up having to manage a lot of idle players. Red had the same issue, but I thinking (I don't know for sure) that Red had more players to spread the load better.

I also like leaving LT44 up and running and just have some fun with it. Use it as a learning tool at the least. I know I have personally enjoyed getting to know some new players and am making friends and I think that is just as much as anything about this community.

While we are having fun in LT44, we can take the time to effectively determine how to setup another team game and do it "right" so that sides are fair, we have players who are not going to go rogue/idle on us, etc.

I was enjoying this game despite a slow start...
Personally I would be ok with just restarting with the same rules/setup.
Redistribute the currently active players into new equal teams.

Re: Ending LT44

Anyway, to be perfectly clear: I would like the remaining players from team Blue - and by that I mean those who are active and fighting - to decide what it is going to be and how we are going to proceed. Whatever they offer, I am willing to accept.

So, Xandr, Joy, Alfred, others? Please make a suggestion.

I've already stated that LT44 is done as far as Team Blue concerned. Time to move on and think about adjustemts to team selection process, player experience prerequisites for participating and number of teams going forward.

Oh and I should mention that all Team Blue players that were playing were on discord, so I don't see a reason why this cannot be a forum for deciding the team faith. Everyone had plenty of time to raise their concerns and express opinions, some elected to not do that at all, so the decision was by present and participating voters. It's like elections, you know :-) You don't vote - you don't choose. It's that easy.

Ok, that is really good information.  You all really should have lead with that.  That adds tons of legitimacy to what at first seemed like unliateral action and individual opinion.

...Though to be fair, I never said this about Red Team.  hmm
*ahem*
