The final map, if there settings will be used, will be similar but not exactly this map. I didn't optimize city placements on this picture but only placed 3 cities to illustrate the size of the island.
The islands are smaller and it's highly likely that no player can survive on the original island. Not with these settings.
There are 300 tiles/player and an average island size is about 70-90 tiles. Everyone should grab about 3-4 islands. I'm predicting that there will be lots of early wars because of this. Also, since triremes can travel on rivers and any unit can attack from a trireme on a river, protecting the inner cities may be tricky.
Very hard to say what the best strategy would be. Map making is now a very cheap tech and triremes are also cheap to make.

I like the challenge. Citymindist is 4? Maybe it can be reduced further to 3? It should definitely not be 5.
Very nice option, but too close continents (you can see neighbours cities) Citymindist 4 seems ok
We are probably picking a map with bigger continents with more space between them. On some test starts there seemed to be too many issues with the small islands. Just the stuff you mentioned.
